Ad'Overbroecks College, Oxford truly distinctive and successful sixth form

d’Overbroeck’s College specialises in preparing students for A-level examinations and consequently for the best universities in the UK. d’Overbroeck’s is a co-educational college that represents much of what is best about British education: highly effective teaching, excellent results and the ability to generate a genuine enthusiasm for study. The environment is friendly and inclusive, making it easy for students to settle in. About 60% of the students are from the UK.

Major strengths of the College are the high level of encouragement, strong pastoral support and outstanding teaching from subject experts. Small classes (an average of seven, maximum of ten students) and interactive teaching provide students with a high level of individual attention. There are nearly 40 A-level subjects on offer, so students can choose a programme that matches their strengths, and a variety of scholarships, including general academic, arts, science and environmental. In addition to their academic studies, students benefit from a vibrant extracurricular activities programme, with nearly 30 activities on offer each week. The College works closely with partner organisations in Oxford such as Oxford Brookes University to ensure excellent sports facilities and coaching.

Entry to top universities

The majority of students go on to university, with the top ten destinations including the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics and King’s College, London. Students also go on to study at leading medical, law and veterinary schools in the UK.There are specialist programmes for medical applications, and Oxford and Cambridge University entrance, designed by teachers who are themselves graduates from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Typically, around 10% of upper-sixth students gain places at Oxford or Cambridge Universities. In addition to their A-levels, students can also study a programme that includes independent research, enrichment activities and critical thinking skills to strengthen their university application.
