Location and school structure
Located in a beautiful Staffordshire village, this flourishing boarding and day school offers excellent all-round education for over 300 pupils, aged 3–18. Roch House, our newly established Preparatory School, welcomes girls and boys from the age of 3 and our Senior School welcomes girls from the age of 11.

Ethos
The School was founded 135 years ago and was the very first Woodard school for girls. The impressive chapel remains at the heart of all that we do, and our Christian ethos, friendly family community, natural surroundings and boarding tradition help to make for a secure and happy atmosphere where pupils thrive and leave the School independent and ready to take their place in society, confident of their own worth.

Overview
Our busy and vibrant school has first-class resources and an impressive record of academic achievements. We have unrivalled facilities and offer a wealth of extracurricular opportunities including the unique chance to pursue dance studies at all levels, and riding in the indoor and outdoor schools and on the cross-country course, a dedicated music school and performing arts theatre, a full-sized sports hall, a newly refurbished 25-metre indoor swimming pool, an Astroturf hockey pitch and an athletics track.

Academic achievements
AB is renowned for providing high-quality all-round education and this is reflected in the pupils’ excellent examination results. Our 2008 results were typically superb, with an exceptional 91% of students gaining grade A–C at A-level, exceeding the previous year’s successes, and a spectacular achievement for a school which is unashamedly non-selective. Most girls go on to further their studies at high-profile universities and pursue a variety of top courses ranging from architecture, medicine and maths to music, fine arts, dance and equine management courses.

Alkins School of Dance
Our internationally applauded dance school offers dance classes for all levels, and our Vocational Dance Course allows students to extend their studies to a professional level. The highly qualified and experienced staff include former international ballerinas and a Director of Dance with many years’ experience as an examiner with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Equestrian Centre
The Equestrian Centre boasts superb opportunities for both the beginner and the experienced rider, offering Pony Club qualifications and British Horse Society (BHS)-approved training up to and including BHS Assistant Instructor (BHSAI). On-site facilities include a floodlit outdoor area, an indoor school, a ten-acre cross-country course and stabling for up to 22 ponies and horses. The experienced staff are led by Head of Equitation, Stephanie Vickers BHSI, CertEd, BHS Senior Examiner.

Roch House Preparatory School
Our new co-educational Preparatory School benefits from use of the extensive sporting facilities of the Senior School and has its own dedicated art and science rooms, new fully equipped ICT centre, learning resource centre and new outdoor soft play area. We have developed an impressive Enrichment programme for pupils both in and outside the classroom and offer free after-school care until 5.30pm.
